Well, here we are for a lovely afternoon by La Seine. This week Art Giraffe is taking a break inside Georges Seurat’s beautiful Bathers at Asnieres. I wanted to try something a little more compositionally complex than last time, and it was fun to play with the figures and colours here. This was a truly interesting painting to recreate, and I think I learned something new about the use of colour while I was working.

Besides all that, I’d highly recommend a viewing of the original. Seurat’s delicacy of tone is just marvellous. The work itself, as well as the history surrounding it is very interesting. Some handy notes here!

Pip pip!

Now here’s a bit of fun! I haven’t had a go at recreating a famous painting since high school art class. But what better way to try it out than with our old friend Art Giraffe! I’m sure Vincent wouldn’t mind us hanging out at his place for a while.

You can really learn something from recreating a well known work of art, especially one you’ve seen many times. Sitting down and sketching or painting a work you think you’re familiar with may open your eyes to the artist’s use of colour, line or composition in a way you’ve never seen before. I might try it again sometime!

And here’s some handy information on the original painting. Pip pip!

Art Giraffe is more than a little like me; he wears a green hat and he loves sketching with friends! So here we have Art and AC Mongoose getting in on the fun times. You’ll remember AC, because he’s my art buddy in real life! But in real life he’s not a mongoose. What a shame! He could use his tail to hold spare brushes.

Doing something creative with a friend is fun and always rewarding. You might find you discover ideas you would never come up with on your own. And challenging each other makes everyone a better artist, writer, dancer, wig-maker or whatever!

Hey, if you want something fun to do with your pals, why not try these fun activities from Sunday ink! Art Jam and the 3 Lines Game are ready for you to enjoy.
I’m very excited to announce that work has begun on volume 2 of Entrepreneurz. That’s right! Clement and I are going to be working hard this year to bring you a whole new set of hilarious comics for your reading pleasure. So here’s a ‘making of’, written with our tongues lodged firmly in our cheeks.

Being the clever (not to mention good looking) Sunday inker that you are, you’ll have noticed that while Entrepreneurz is in French, today’s comic is in English. You may find it interesting to ponder, but a literal translation of the text in the comic might not convey the intended irony in French. It has created a bit of a problem for us! So if you keep an eye on the Entrepreneurz facebook page, you’ll soon see a French version of the comic that may or may not tell the same tale of tortured genius and passionate desk-stabbing. Bonus points for bilingual Sunday inkers!

And while we’re at it, a reminder for friends around the world that Entrepreneurz Volume 1 is on sale now, and all international orders placed through the facebook page will be autographed for free!

More news as it comes to hand. Pip pip!
